August Newsletter

WOW. July went fast! I know everyone says it and I pretty much say this every month, but last month was a whirlwind and it went by so fast. I can’t believe we’re already into spooky season (and before you tell me it’s not spooky season and Halloween is still months away spooky season is 365 days a year, but it’s EXTRA spooky season after July 5th).

Some exciting things from July:

~started recording/plotting out season 4 for How to Survive Until You’re Published the Podcast

~had the privilege to beta read for so many talented friends and alpha read for others! (K. B. MacNeille ~ Stabby Southern Sass and her story have literally been keeping me motivated through my project by getting to alpha read hers)

~my picture book “I Think My Cat is a Dragon,” is now available at the King’s English Bookshop. What a dream!!!! Thank you all for your continued support. It’s been so fun to watch this hit new milestones.

Now for more specific writing project updates:

Project MV ~ Monstrum Venatorum ~ Monsters in Manhattan is still in the query trenches with no new updates besides currently waiting on seven responses after sending in full or partial requests. Keeping my fingers crossed over here, but we’ll see where it goes. Until I have more updates I will continue to send it out! In the meantime, enjoy these memes I made for it to pitch on X.

Project SiTW ~ probably changing to Project WiTW???? ~ Currently editing my second draft, follow along on Instagram for live writing updates/progress updates. I’m currently on Chapter 14/22 ish and am hoping to have it done in the next week and a half. This project has been a great distraction from the query trenches and so much fun to work on. I’ve definitely found this second draft has taken it more into the horror genre??? But I’m not mad at all about it. What can I say, I like my ghosts.

Project SK ~ started plotting and putting together characters for this one. While it wasn’t originally going to be my next project I write (I thought it would be Project TPO or Project FS) the more I think about it the more I can’t get it out of my head and the more I feel like I need to iron out details in my other projects before I can dive into drafting them. So this psychological thriller project will likely be my next one after I get the above mentioned projects to a place I’m more confident I’ll be able to execute them how I want to.

Some none writing updates:

~I’ve started running again and am finding I REALLY enjoy it? It’s honestly offering me a lot of clarity and has just been a good way to get moving when I don’t always have a lot of time

~Celebrated MANY birthdays this month (including my own, here’s to 29)

~My dog had surgery and is now cancer free (YAY!)

~We got to get away for a day to go to a campsite with family and it was super relaxing. 10/10 recommend.

Keeping this newsletter short and sweet, but hopefully I’ll have some more exciting updates for next month’s newsletter.

Until then, stay spooky!
