Writing Conferences and More

by | Jan 29, 2023

WOW. It has been awhile since I’ve updated, and a lot has changed. Though I’m not quite ready to talk about all the updates and changes I did think it would be good to get on here and make a newsletter-ish post (though my actual newsletter can be found by subscribing below, or on Substack!)

Storymakers

I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend Storymakers in Utah where I was able to meet and hangout with the best of the best. I love my community of writers, and how supportive the community of writers is that Storymakers has cultivated. It really is a refuge (to quote the conferences theme). While at the conference I had the wonderful opportunity to receive a query consult which I am so grateful for!! I feel like after that, I actually have direction on how to improve my query letter so I can enter the query trenches with Project MV. Making those revisions this week and then let the querying begin. If you ever get the opportunity to go to Storymakers, I highly recommend it. Not only is it great for networking and creating friends, but it is a wonderful way to study the craft. I will be watching these classes religiously for the next 90 days as I dive into the last edits on Project MV and finally begin Project SiTW and Project TPO.

Something also exciting about Storymakers this year, I was able to see my debut children’s picture book in their bookstore (under a different pen name of course) and I was able to have an official signing for it before it makes it official grand entrance into the world this upcoming Tuesday.

Thrillerfest

Some upcoming and exciting news, I will be attending (and pitching!!!!!) at Thrillerfest. If you are planning to attend, please reach out to me, I’d love to meet up. I am so excited to experience a new conference and one so focused on my favorite genre to write. I can’t wait!

How to Survive Until You’re Published: The Podcast

Season Three of How to Survive Until You’re Published will be coming to an early end as Amy and I pivot towards a new purpose. We’ve thought long and hard about what we want our vision for HTSUYP to be, and while craft and writing tips are fantastic, we’re very excited for the direction we’re taking it and the journey we’re about to embark on (but more news on that later).

For now, that is all my writing updates I’m ready to share, but I’ll be back with more soon. Make sure to subscribe to my newsletter for more recent updates <3
